Westwood, Magnolia Texas *

Welcome to Westwood Magnolia!  A wonderful subdivision in the Magnolia Parkway (FM 1488) Corridor.  Located in Southwest Montgomery County, Westwood Magnolia is made up of (4) sections bordering on roads FM 1488 and FM 2978.  Here you will find new or resale homes on half +/- acre lots with mature trees in a popular, growing area of the county.

The community of Westwood Magnolia was formed before the Houston oil bust and was taken over in 1993 by the home owners who formed the “Westwood Landowners Association”.  The Westwood LOA has built a new office within the subdivision and has a full time Office Manager and a Courtesy Patrol driver.  Two full time contractors are paid to maintain the pools, common areas and watch over new construction.  An Architectural Control committee made up of volunteers meets to approve/disapprove of any new construction.  The Association meets quarterly along with an annual meeting to update the general membership plus a newsletter with the latest information.  They also sponsor a Christmas lighting contest.


 

Westwood Magnolia community amenities consist of (3) pools with bath houses, a large pavilion that doubles as a basketball court and a meeting place for the Association, (2) tennis courts plus great playgrounds for the children.

For the golf enthusiast, just minutes away there are great courses such as Lake Windrest and High Meadow Ranch.  Both locations offer an 18 hole course in a beautiful, tranquil, country setting.  If you’re into water activities and camping,  Lake Conroe is only 20 minutes away and there is a terrific state park one hour north in  the Huntsville area.

Residents of Westwood enjoy a versatile location just west of The Woodlands.  They have easy access to the new super center anchored by Target that also features stores such as Office Max, ROSS, TJ Maxx, PetSmart, Famous Footwear, and more. The Woodlands Mall and Town Center is 20 minutes away, as is Lake Conroe to the North.

Employment opportunities abound in the Greenspoint area, Highway 249 and Beltway 8 areas, Conroe, rapidly growing Montgomery, and The Woodlands. Some residents commute to downtown Houston. Larger companies in the area include Anadarko, HP, Continental Airlines, Chevron, Halliburton, CB&I, and Hewitt.

City of Magnolia Texas

Once a tiny town in the timber industry, Magnolia Texas now has an area population of more than 65,000. Originally called "Minks Prairie" after one of the early settlers Joseph Mink, Magnolia Texas is a sought after, upscale area, where you'll find charming communities with golf courses, recreational lakes, riding trails for your horses and an abundance of wildlife that is just an hour north of Houston, Texas.

Just minutes away in The Woodlands, you'll find a major shopping district known as The Woodlands Town Center with such places as The Woodlands Mall and Market Street. For concerts and entertainment there is the Cynthia Woods Pavilion and movie theaters. For the budget conscious or that special dinner, there are numerous restaurants for every palate.

For local shopping in Magnolia Texas, you'll find quaint shops plus the new Westwood Village located in the Westwood Magnolia community that has such retail outlets, as Target, TJ Maxx, and Ross along with new restaurants and a Starbucks! TexMex lovers will have lots of restaurants to choose from in the Magnolia Parkway (FM 1488) Corridor plus great BBQ in downtown Magnolia. If you're into classic cars and street rods, you'll want to check out the Niftee50ees Car Show every Saturday night (Spring thru Fall) on Spring Cypress in the Champion Forest area. Just a 20 minute drive from Magnolia and located in the Stables Town Center parking lot, you'll see 300+ cars and trucks from the oldies but goodies to the beautiful restored muscle cars of the 60s and 70s and the street rods of years gone by. This is a free event where you can walk around and see all the classics while listening to rock n' roll of the good old days. Owners love to talk about their pride n' joy so don't hesitate to ask questions and look at their scrapbooks.

Located south of Lake Conroe, Magnolia Texas is only 20 minutes to more recreational amenities like boating and swimming or a special dinner celebration on the Southern Empress Riverboat at Seven Coves.

Magnolia Texas ISD has terrific schools and is currently building a new elementary in the Magnolia Parkway corridor. Magnolia Parkway Elementary is scheduled for completion in May, 2008. Nearby cities of Tomball, The Woodlands, Prairie View, College Station and Houston offer wonderful community, state and private universities.

With new roads and freeways, you can enjoy the country life in Magnolia Texas and still commute to Houston or north to Conroe and Huntsville Texas.  Two major Houston airports, Bush Intercontinental and Hobby, allow you to choose from numerous airlines for your business and leisure travel. If you like to cruise, you're only 90 minutes from the Port of Galveston where you'll find Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines.

County of Montgomery Texas

With a 2007 estimated population of over 411,000, Montgomery County is in the top 50 fastest growing counties in the United States. Located north of Houston and Harris County, Conroe Texas has been the county seat since 1888. The county offers an abundance of recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, hiking and golf. There are also great shopping complexes and restaurants.

The county of Montgomery Texas has deep rooted history. It was the third county formed under the Republic of Texas and named in honor of Brigadier General Richard Montgomery. Later the county was proclaimed as the birthplace of the Lone Star Flag by the Texas Legislature. The economy of the county was primarily agriculture until oil was discovered southeast of Conroe. Early in 1930, the Montgomery County oilfields made it one of the richest oil producing areas in the nation. Oil production in the county has declined but it is still one of the leading sources of income to this day.

In the five county Metroplex area of Houston, Montgomery county ranks in the top 20% of single family home sales. Price per square foot has increased as much as 8% or more in a five year period with the median price per square foot averaging $100+ in 2007.

Some of the major cities located in the County of Montgomery are; Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, and The Woodlands.
